1 In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
‘Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.
3 When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?
4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes the sons of men;
|
|
his eyes examine them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, and those who love violence,
his soul hates
6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulphur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.
7 For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.

Psalm 11;- This psalm is usually classified as a psalm of confidence.
Whatever dangers may come our way, the psalm invites us to trust in God. God is Sovereign and conquers over evil and unfairness. He will judge all evil. The psalm has been linked to David’s flight from Saul or Absalom’s rebellion, while others regard it as a royal psalm or plea of one falsely accused. The psalmist plea is to seek refuge in God’s temple.
Have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we shall be clothed in His righteousness. Our sins will be washed away in the blood of the Lamb. God of Justice who loves those stand up for people who are being unfairly treated.
One of the worst episodes of my life was when head office told me I had to escort my boss off the premises, making sure she did not take anything belonging the company with her. A woman who her and her family had given so much to the work the company did. Tears were running down my face, as I escorted her to the door, and we just stood there and hugged. After all these years I am pleased to say we are still the best of friends and keep in touch, sadly the company as now gone.
